One on One Support and Care
Almond Branch received news of various individual or small group needs that we raise money for. In the past, that has included supplies to help rebuild portions of broken down apartments in Tel Aviv that would help get homeless men and women off the street. We've brought over food, toys, and medicine to those in need, as well as holding clothing outreaches in Tel Aviv, Kazrin, northern Israel and Kiryat Schmona, northern Israel. Most recently we provided water canteens for IDF soldiers who are unable to afford their own.
Emergency Support
During Operation Castlead their is an organization called "First Repsonders", where medical personnel can volunteer their own time, expertise and safety to be the first to respond to people in need in the face of natural disasters, acts of terror or war. As this is a volunteer program, they rely on outside resources to afford the necessary equipment. ABI was proud to be able to support Dr. Mash during Operation Castlead in January 2009. We supported her with an entire medical/surgical emergency field equipment, as well as protective gear, a flack jacket and bullet proof helmet. Israeli have an enormous respect for life and will response to the need of the injured regardless of race, creed, color, culture belief. Life is precious to them and so it's an honor to support their non-discriminary efforts of giving all in need the best care possible.
While ABI does not condone war, we realize that almost a 3rd of the young men and women serving in the IDF fall under the poverty line and cannot afford even basic equipment such as a hat, water canteen or fleece jacket to keep warm in the winter. Service in the military is compulsory and so ABI supports these young men and women who are struggling in the midst of hardship while they serve with basic humanitarian needs.
